a model to educate poor children.

One of the toughest questions that I have had to answer has nothing to do with the provision of education. Many people that have talked to me wonder why I would 'bury' whatever little money I had in providing education to a few kids who to  their opinion and judgement, are not worth it. To be sincere this is a question that I have never pondered about. I just needed to do it. I am not wealthy, and I struggle personally. Yet, I look at the smiles on the faces of the children as they sing and recite the alphabet, as they make sketches and draw pictures and doodles on the sheets of paper provided, and I know that while it lasts, it is worth every single penny I buried there.

Education is considered a business in this country, as it has been for a very long time. It has been used to advance a few wealthy people, while consigning multitudes to poverty. To change the mentality of the people is not a one time affair, or event, but might need to be a long term courtship strategy. I honestly do not expect anyone to understand when I say I just had to do it, and that there is no financial reward in it. It has more to do with living out my dream of helping others access quality education that has been paid for. It is that simple. Someone somewhere might agree to sponsor a teacher, and the children will not have to go home for lack of money to pay fees. I believe that by using this approach, illiteracy can be overcome, and lives can be changed for the better.

Lucas.
